Tristan Avery is the rare athlete whose remarkable debut also represented an incredible comeback.
One of the nation’s most heralded amateur racers in 2014, Avery was in contention to win the coveted AMA Dirt Track Horizon award when he suffered serious injuries in a terrifying crash at the Amateur Nationals at Springfield, Illinois.
Avery was transferred to his home state of Virginia where he was expected to face an extensive recovery period.
Defying the odds, he not only made his Parts Unlimited AFT Singles debut the following season, he scored his first win and registered three podiums as a rookie in 2015.
The Virginian took another huge step forward the following year, logging two more wins and another podium en route to a third-place ranking in the final 2016 Parts Unlimited AFT Singles championship.
Avery has been a podium threat ever since -- both in Parts Unlimited AFT Singles and Mission Production Twins competition. That’s especially true on the big Miles, where he’s earned 15 career podiums entering the 2022 season.
